CBSE new academic session update: Competency-based questions increased to 30 per cent! How to start preparing


NEW DELHI: As Per New Education Policy, new changes are being introduced to its assessment and evaluation process by CBSE for the next academic session. New circular released by the CBSE on April 22, details further changes in the evaluation criteria in accordance to the board’s move to Competency Based Education or CBE.

This CBSE notification encourages more competency-based questions or questions that assess the application of concepts in real-life or unfamiliar situations will be part of the question papers of Classes 10, 12 board exams and Classes 9, 11 final exams

As per the new circular, Competency based questions would be about 30% for Classes 9 & 10 and 20% for Classes 11 & 12. CBSE explained that the competency-based questions could be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions, Case-Based Questions, Course-Based integrated questions or any other types. Besides, the CBSE would continue with Objective Type questions as well as Short and Long Answer Type Questions.

Browse through the study material in advance:
