CBSE releases evaluation criteria for classes 9th to 12th for 2021-22 session


NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released new assessment and evaluation practices for the new academic session 2021-22. The new evaluation criteria released by the CBSE on April 22 explains the further changes in accordance to the board’s move to Competency Based Education (CBE).

The Board has been taking steps in this direction since 2019, and has been gradually shifting the focus and making smaller changes to make the transition gradual.

In the letter directed at the heads of all CBSE affiliated schools, the CBSE Board has announced that from this year onward, the board would now be introducing Competency Based Questions. This would be about 30% for Classes 9 & 10 and 20% for Classes 11 & 12.

“In the forthcoming sessions a greater number of Competency Based Questions or

questions that assess application of concepts in real-life/ unfamiliar situations will be part of the question
paper,” reads the notification released by the Board.

The changes for classes IX-XII (2021-22) internal year-end/Board Examination are as under:
