gujarat university exam news: Gujarat CM announces merit-based progression for college students


Gujarat government has decided to give merit-based progression to all undergraduate college students in government, grant-in-aid as well as for private colleges and universities. The move is likely to benefit 9.5 lakh students of the state, the state government said in a statement on Friday.

The decision is for second and fourth semester intermediate students as well as for those courses where sixth semester is intermediate, the government said in an announcement.

It is applicable for all students pursuing their studies in any faculty except for medical and paramedical programmes.

The decision was taken at a core committee meeting chaired by chief minister Vijay Rupani.

The results will be prepared by giving fifty percent weightage on internal evaluations and the remaining will be on the basis of performance in the previous semester.

“The state government has decided to give merit-based progression to college students keeping in view the Covid-19 situation. It is applicable only for this year,” said Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, state education minister.

He said that Covid-19 vaccination programme for 18 to 44 years age group is currently underway in the state and that many young students are yet to be vaccinated.
