Maharashtra scholarship exam 2021 postponed due to Covid surge

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra State Examination Council on Monday announced that it has put off the scholarship exams for classes 5 and 8 due to the steep surge in the Covid 19 cases. The exam has been postponed till further notice.

The Maharashtra scholarship exam was scheduled for May 23, however, a new date will be announced in due course of time.

“Given the prevailing Coronavirus pandemic, Maharashtra State Council of Examinations Pre-Upper Primary Scholarship (Class V) & Pre-Secondary Scholarship (Class VIII) examinations scheduled to be held on May 23, 2021, have been postponed till further notice,” Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted on Monday.

Over six lakh candidates have registered for the scholarship exam this year. “Across the state, 47,612 schools have registered for the exams while a total of 6,32,478 students have applied. 3,88,335 class V & 2,44,143 class VIII have applied for the exams. The Health & safety of our students is of utmost importance to us,” the minister further added.
