nagpur university exam news: Nagpur University to conduct re-exam for over 4,400 students from May 22-26

NAGPUR: In some good news for students who missed the winter-2020 examinations due to one or the other reasons, the Nagpur University has rescheduled their papers from May 22-26. From May 27, the university would also restart its fourth phase of exams, which was deferred due to a surge in Covid-19 cases in Vidarbha last month.

Over 7,400 examinees, mostly from rural areas, had lodged complaints with NU after they either failed to appear in the exam or missed it due to technical glitches.

TOI had reported about the plight of thousands of such students who missed their exams primarily due to slow internet connectivity and erratic power supply along with other issues like mobile getting hanged or battery getting low or inability to login into the web link.

“We would be conducting a re-exam of over 4,471 students. We had received their applications through their principals on our portal, as per our directives that everything should be conducted online during the pandemic. A majority of those students hail from the rural areas of all four districts – Bhandara, Wardha, Gondia, and Nagpur,” Board of Examination and Evaluation (BOEE) director Prafulla Sable told TOI.

The applications of students were approved after NU verified their claims by matching data stored in its server. Vice-chancellor Subhash Chaudhari had told TOI on April 7 that NU would be conducting a re-exam of all genuine students who missed out due to various reasons.

NU has already conducted a re-exam of over 10,000 students who couldn’t appear in the first paper on March 25 due to server problems.

Sable informed that NU would also be holding the first and third semesters papers of BA, BCom, BSc, BE, and other courses from May 27. “We will be uploading the timetable probably by Tuesday. All these papers were scheduled from April 24, but were deferred due to surge in Covid-19 cases,” he said.

In a series of reports, TOI had mentioned hundreds of students complained that their paper ended before time and hence they couldn’t solve all the questions. Many used social media to air their grievances and also tagged TOI, saying they faced issues due to slow servers and connectivity, but their papers indicated successful submission prematurely.
