NEET 2021 may be postponed

NEW DELHI: The government is likely to delay the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and incentivise MBBS pass-outs to join Covid duty. It may also decide to utilise the services of final year MBBS and nursing students in helping counter the corona surge.

Sources said the government is likely to make detailed announcements on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the issues relating to the augmentation of human resources for effective management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Sources said several steps to incentivise students and pass-outs of medical and nursing courses to join Covid duty were taken.

Such medical personnel doing Covid duty would be given preference in the government recruitment as well as a financial incentive, sources said.
