odisha board exam news: Odisha board exams postponed; students of classes 9 & 11 to be promoted


NEW DELHI: Due to Covid situation, the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced the postponement of all 10th & 12th board exams till May 31 in the state. He further announced that all students of classes 9 and 11 in the academic year 2020-21 will be prompted to the 10th and 12th standards respectively without taking any exams.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) had scheduled to conduct the class 10 and 12 exams on May 3 and May 18 respectively.

The government will take the decision regarding the fresh exam dates once the Covid-19 situation improves. “The state government and the CHSE will review the Covid-19 situation in the first week of June and will decide the next date for the exam. Students will get enough time to prepare for the examinations” said an official statement issued by the chief minister’s office.

In the last 24 hours, Odisha reported 2,267 new cases while in Bhubaneswar over 300 cases were detected on the day.

The Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday cancelled the class 10 examination and put off the class 12 exams. CISCE is yet to take a decision regarding ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) Year 2021 examinations.
