RBSE Exam postponed: Rajasthan 10th, 12th Board exams postponed; Class 8th,9th &11th to be promoted without exams

JAIPUR: As the number of coronavirus cases are rising in the state, government has decided to postpone the class X and XII board examination and cancel the class VIII board examination.

Government has already promoted students till class VII and on Wednesday order was issued to promote other class students except in class X and XII board. Hence, students in class VIII, IX and XI will be promoted to further classes.

State Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra, in the COVID review meeting by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that it is for the security of the students to post-pone the board exams. “It is necessary to conduct class XII board examination as students have to appear for college admissions. We can conduct the class XII board examination once the situation becomes normal and will also decide about class X board examination during that time. But for class VIII it should be cancelled and rest students should be promoted,” said Dotasra.

Rajasthan government took similar approach in 2019 when unlike CBSE, they refused to cancel board examinations. Class X and XII board exams were conducted and rest students were promoted.

On Monday, Government promoted students in classes VI and VII to next class without any examination. Before that a separate order was issued to promote students till class V.

The students will be promoted on April 15, 2021, on the basis of homework given and projects done under SMILE 1, SMILE 2 and under the programme of Aao Ghar Se Seekho evaluated by teachers without written examination looking at the rising number of corona cases.
