Software engineer death: Cook from Uttar Pradesh arrested in Madurai | Madurai News

MADURAI: A 19-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh was arrested in connection with the murder of a software engineer in Madurai city.
The accused has been identified as Ram Anand Gowtham, a cook, who was hired by the deceased software engineer Kumarandoss.
A police team picked him up from Madurai railway junction while he was waiting for a train to leave the state.
Kumarandoss, 42, was a native of Lourdhu Nagar in K Pudur. Due to Covid-19 restrictions he worked from home. As it was distracting to work from his parent’s house, he rented a house in Sri Ram Nagar in Uthangudi two months ago. His wife and children were staying in Trichy.
While he already had a cook, he brought Ram Anand Gowtham only five days ago. Kumarandoss knew him when he was working in New Delhi and brought him to Madurai.
Kumarandoss was found dead with grievous injuries on his head on Sunday morning.
Ram Anand Gowtham told police that they consumed liquor on Saturday night. In an inebriated condition, a verbal altercation broke out between them. In a fit of rage, he picked up a stone and hit him on his head. As he died, he escaped from the house.
